Mr Twit is a foul and smelly man with bits of cornflake and sardine in his beard. Mrs Twit is a horrible old hag with a glass eye. They’ve kept Muggle-Wump the monkey and his family caged in the garden for too long, and now the monkeys want to take their revenge.
Our English work will be based around our class story The Twits. We will also use our Science and Topic work as a stimulus for our writing.
Maths
Our Maths lessons follow the Maths No Problem scheme. This is an approach taught across the whole school. This half term, pupils will be learning place value, strategies to support mental calculations, formal written methods of addition and subtraction as well as applying this to solve word problems.
Spelling
Spelling is initially taught as discrete lessons using the scheme No Nonsense Spelling, where pupils carry out activities and learn strategies that allow them to investigate different rules. Pupils are not given spelling lists to learn.
Topic
This half term our topic work will be based on the Stone Age to the Iron Age. They will look at how Britain changed during this time period. They will focus on housing, weapons, food and historical landmarks such as Skara Brae.
Science
Science is taught as through Science Weeks. This half term, Year 3 will be learning more about plants. Pupils will identify and describe the functions of different parts of flowering plants, explore the way in which water is transported within plants and explore the life cycle of flowering plants.
