The ‘Eager reader‘ initiative has now been rolled out through the rest of the school due to its success in KS1.

We want our children to develop a love of reading and to be reading at home regularly. This will help them to access all aspects of the curriculum and support them as they move through school.

To become an ‘Eager reader’, your child must read at least 4 times during the week.

When children have achieved a certain number of weeks as an Eager Reader, they will be awarded certificates and badges for the relevant stage. The children will have a stamp in their planners each week they have read 4 times or more.

Bronze (6 weeks of being an Eager Reader)

Silver (16 weeks of being an Eager Reader)

Gold (26 weeks of being an Eager Reader)

Diamond (36 weeks of being an Eager Reader)

Classes will be competing to have the highest percentage of eager readers in their class. The winning class will be awarded a certificate and a special trophy.

The house teams (Ennis, Clancy, Brownlee, Cockroft) will also be competing to have the highest number of eager readers. At the end of each term, the winning team will receive a reward.

Please make sure you are regularly reading with your child and signing the reading records in their planners.
