A very warm welcome back to school after the summer holidays. We are so pleased to be back at school and hope you are ready to learn about lots of new and interesting work about our new topic ‘Me and My World’.
English – We will be continuing with our Read Write Inc. sessions across the phase. Please make sure that your child is reading at least four times a week.
Maths – In Year 1, we will be learning about Numbers to 10, Addition within 10 and Subtraction within 10.
Maths – In Year 2, we will be learning about Numbers to 100 and Addition and Subtraction.
Science – For the first half term our Science focus is around Animals including Humans, we will be learning about the life cycles of animals and humans and how we can group and classify a range of different animals.
History – As part of our Me and My World topic we will have a special focus on our own personal history and life cycle and the history of transport around the world!
Geography – Our geography work this half term will link to our topic and we will be focusing on our local area and seeing how it has changed over the years, with a local area walk and a range of pictures from the past.
Art – In art, we will be focusing on self portraits and our artist focus for the half term is Andy Warhol and Pablo Picasso, we will combining a range of different art techniques including drawing, sketching and the use of oil pastels.
Music – Our music is also linked to topic and science work. We will be continuing to use the Music Express scheme of work and complete some music around ‘Ourselves’.
P.E – A special focus this half term in P.E is around throwing and catching skills.
R.E – Our focus for R.E this first half term is ‘How can we make good choices?’
Computing – In computing we are following the Purple Mash scheme of work and we will be focusing on ‘Online Safety and Exploring Purple Mash’.
